Also, that was November, eleven months after the iPhone was unveiled. And that was the Nokia phone on the cover of Forbes. Maybe they should have seem it coming.

Hard to believe how quick things have changed. I think one key element Nokia have missed in its strategy was a strong lock-in effect. The shift to Windows Phone was another very risk bet and we can now see that it didn’t worked out for Nokia.
I see a lot of elements described in Disruptive Innovation. I can remember how a lot of Industry players were laughing about the first iPhone. No MMS, no 3G, no swappable battery, no memory slot, etc. That how it starts, you do not take your competitor seriously and the success makes you arrogant.
